К сожалению, из-за недолеченной травмы, которая не позволила Лене играть турнины после Ролан Гаррос, Веснина была вынуждена сняться с нового домашнего турнира Moscow river cup 2018, который стартует в Москве с 22 июля. Это первый турнир WTA в России, проходящий на открытом воздухе на грунте.

In the final of the tournament in Madrid in doubles, Russians Elena Vesnina and Ekaterina Makarova [1] defeated Timea Babos of Hungary and Kristina Mladenovic of France [3] 2-6, 6-4 10-8.

The match lasted 1 hour and 34 minutes.

For 31-years-old Vesnina this title became the 19th in her career and the first this season. 28-years-old Makarova won the 13th title in doubles tournaments. The duo is ranked No. 2 in the WTA doubles rankings following only Latisha Chan of Chinese Taipei.
